Where an overseas company has registered a UK establishment at Companies House under the Overseas Companies Regulations 2009, the establishment's registered address is held on the public register and a document can be served there, within the jurisdiction. We verify that address against the live register, attend, and return a statement of service recording who accepted the document and in what capacity.
Where the overseas company has no registered UK establishment, it is outside the jurisdiction and service falls under CPR Part 6 practice direction 6A — service out of the jurisdiction — which may engage the Hague Service Convention and require the court's permission. The route depends on the destination country, and we advise on it before any attendance.
